Small tool, done properly
It sits in the tray, remembers what you copy, and gets out of the way.
- Global hotkey and tray icon — Ctrl+Shift+V by default, changeable in Settings. The popup docks to your taskbar.
- Text, images and files — rich text (RTF and HTML) is kept so pasting into Word or Outlook keeps formatting; screenshots are stored as PNG; copied files paste as files.
- No duplicates — copy something you already have and the existing entry moves to the top instead of piling up.
- Keyboard first — type to search, Enter to paste into the previous app, Ctrl+1–9 for quick paste, Shift+Enter for plain text.
- Pin what matters — pinned items stay at the top and are never trimmed. History size is yours to set (500 by default).
- Code looks like code — snippets, JSON, SQL and shell commands are shown in a monospace font, unwrapped.
- Privacy controls — honours the “exclude from history” flag password managers set, lets you exclude any app by name, and can cap image size.
- One file — a single exe with everything inside. Installs into your own profile, updates by running a newer exe, uninstalls from the tray menu.
%LocalAppData%\ClipVault as plain JSON and PNG files. ClipVault has no network code and no telemetry, and the full source is on GitHub under the MIT license, so you can check that for yourself.Up and running in under a minute.
One download, no admin password, no separate runtime.
Download
Grab ClipVault.exe from the button above. It is about 66 MB because the .NET runtime is bundled inside, so there is nothing else to install.
Run it
The download is code-signed by Verona Solutions, LLC; right-click the file, choose Properties, then Digital Signatures to see it. If SmartScreen still shows “Windows protected your PC” while the new certificate earns its reputation, click More info, then Run anyway.
Want to be sure? Compare the file’s SHA-256 with the checksum published beside each release.
Choose Install
ClipVault offers to copy itself into your user profile, add a Start menu shortcut and start with Windows. Tick what you want and click Install. Prefer a portable app? Click Run from here instead.
A tray icon appears and a balloon reminds you of the hotkey.
